Laphroaig 27 Year Limited Edition Scotch Whiskey Online
Laphroaig 27-Year Limited Edition Scotch whiskey is a rare and highly sought-after whiskey. The single-malt Scotch whisky is 27 years old. The whiskey is made by transferring mature Laphroaig, previously aged in refill hogsheads, into first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and refilled quarter casks. Select casks were hand-selected for final maturation. The whiskey features a touch of Laphroaig’s trademark peat smoke, tempered by lime and sea salt.
Laphroaig 27-Year Limited Edition Scotch Whiskey is a “lighter” side of Laphroaig, with more robust and up-front citrus notes with accents of fruit, vanilla, and toffee. The palate shows hints of leather and ocean mist. The whiskey has an alcohol content of 41.7%.
Laphroaig 27-Year Limited Edition Scotch Whiskey is a part of Laphroaig’s limited-edition aging releases. In 2019, Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible named Laphroaig 27 Year the Best Single Malt Scotch 10 Years & Under. In 2015, to celebrate its 200th anniversary, Laphroaig launched a 32-year-old exclusive, the highest-aged whiskey it had released in over eight years. Laphroaig 30 Year Old debuted in 2016, and 27-Year-Old Double Matured followed in 2017. The entire range comes in white wooden boxes with hand-carved distillery images.
Tasting Notes
-
A tribute to the age, a subtle nose that does not jump right in the face. At the beginning, it was fruity, with crushed overripe bananas, pineapple juice, and a pinch of pepper. In the distance, sea flavors. The smoky note is now going through. It becomes slightly salty, seaweed works its way forward, and a touch of machine oil pulls through. Then: coffee powder, dark chocolate, while still fruity and slightly peppery at the same time.
-
A creamy, pleasantly strong start with cooked bananas and subtle smoke. Acts at the beginning, as if he had put on the handbrake, but that coincides so far with the nose. Dry smoke, some Black Forest ham, pepper, and less oak than you might expect. Hardly bitter or bitter, but remains beautifully supple on the tongue.
-
Not so long… Pleasantly dry, vanilla with mild smoke, and the aroma of Noriblättern.
